Dan's POV

I missed Phil.

Phil had been away for days, and it felt like forever.

His family was in the middle of a rather depressing trip away for his grandmother's funeral.

The once loving lady with the fire in her belly had finally let her fire go out.

It was nothing out of the ordinary, it was just her time.

I wished I could go with him to give him some sort of support, but all I could do was call him.

I'd spend hours just listening to him talk, sometimes he'd tell me stories about his grandmother, other times we'd just talk about what we'd each done during the day.

"I miss you" I sighed down the phone line like usual.

"I miss you too" I heard him say, a small sniff mottled by the static of the phone following close behind.

"When are you coming home?"

"I'm already there, in a way" He told me.

"What?"

"In spirit, you know? Like how everyone's been saying my Grandmother's still here in spirit. I'm still there with you, just not physically" He explained.

I could picture that sad smile on his face, and I wished I could make him feel better.

"Phil...are you alright?" I asked softly.

"I don't really know"

For once, he didn't lie.

He would usually tell me he was fine.

For once he'd admitted that he wasn't sure.

"You'll be okay, I promise" I tried to comfort him, holding the phone in front of me while it was on speaker, my other arm wrapped around my legs "And hey, if you're here in spirit, then I'm there with you in spirit" I smiled feebly.

"I just wish you were here physically. I just...I need Danosaur hugs" I could hear that pout.

"Well, I promise you that the minute you go to sleep, I'll find my way to your dreams and I'll just sit with you and hug you all night. How's that?" I smiled, hoping to cheer him up.

I could hear the slight exhale of him laughing softly.

"I'll see you there"

Phil's POV

I sat in an empty room, devoid of everything but a two-seater couch and a gigantic chrome framed window that looked out to a comically large moon.

Sitting beside me was the beautiful boy whom I'd been craving.

His eyes sparkled at me as he smiled.

"I miss you" I whispered, my voice echoing around the room.

"I miss you too" he told me, pulling me close to him.

I shuffled towards him until my head rested on his shoulder.

I felt tears brimming my eyes.

"I love you"

"I love you more" came his reply "and when you get home, I promise that I'll give you a better hug than you could ever dream. But until then, I'm always right here with you. In your dreams, in the shadows, in the wind, wherever you need me to be, okay?"

"Okay"

***

My grandmother's send-off was fitting for the woman she was, but nothing made me happier than the thought of being able to go home to Dan.

I loved my grandmother with all my heart, but I needed to get away from those feelings of loss that came with the death of a loved one and replace them with the feeling of having my boyfriend near me again.

The second I walked through the door, I kicked my shoes off and hung my jacket on the hook before I entered the main part of the home.

"Dan?" I called out, looking for him.

"Phil? Is that you?"

Footsteps thudded down from the office.

"Hey" I smiled, seeing his eyes light up. He took no time in jumping down the stairs and throwing his arms around me.

I squeezed him tightly.

"I could care less if you're with me in spirit, nothing beats having you here with me now"

I could feel him smile into my neck.

"I love you"

"I love you more"
HI CELL-MATES.
THIS ONE WAS KIND OF AWFUL AND I'M SORRY BUT BAD THINGS HAPPENED TODAY SO THIS WAS THE BEST I COULD DO.

Anyway, I won't go into detail.
